England need to freshen things up. Bring in the young lads who are in their late teens/ early 20s and set in place the foundations for the next world cup.

We may even surprise a few people and not disgrace ourselves in the Euros 2012 if we qualify.

The likes of Gerrard, Terry, Lampard, Rio aren't going to be there in 2014. They'll be well past it. They've had their chance and failed. Get rid of the egos, the scandal, stop picking players because of their name living off past glories and build a real team who play AS a team.

england need to realise that midfielders like scholes, xavi, schweinsteiger etc are worth their weight in gold, to find players with some of their ability to play it simple and control a game and to build the team around them. and, since even england's best passing midfielders, scholes aside, are a level below the likes of spain and germany, they need to realise that they won't get anywhere giving other sides a numerical advantage in the middle and playing a two against other sides' threes.

unfortunately the premier league doesn't produce that kind of player in any quantity, which is all the more reason to cherish the ones england does produce - carrick and joe cole at the moment, probably tom huddlestone and jack wilshere in time for the next euros. add in lee cattermole (a very underrated player imo), jordan henderson and tom cleverley, probably one or two others, and you've got a group of midfielders who could become a very impressive unit over the next five to ten years.

None of the above was relevant either. He's German ffs.

You can tell he's not Polish because he's not useless at football.

where do you draw the line though? Obviously podolski has spent 95% of his life in Germany, is 'naturalised' etc

Klose didn't move until he was 11 I think? but again still spent majority of his life in Germany.

There should be a defined set of rules, clearly though. The boateng brothers - what the £#%&! is that about :shakhead:
