He would. Not sufficient to change the result, but they’d have at least had to worry about us possibly passing it forwards occasionally.

Can't pass the ball anywhere when you don't have it.

If there's on thing Paul Pogba brings its great ball retention.

He will try and pass it forward though, rather than losing it refusing to pass it forward.

Makes no difference, Mou’s greatest trick is to render us grateful that we didn’t concede four or more today and to be ecstatic if we end up fourth this season.

We may well have been rolled over with him playing too. The team performance and set up is the bigger problem and he alone can't fix it.

But in recent weeks that left side of Shaw and Martial with Pogba drifting over has been at the core of the good stuff we play. So he was a big miss in terms of that coordination being missing. Plus he has such an array of talent that even when things are going bad he can pull out a great pass or score a great goal. The midfield we put out were a bunch of nothing players.

Rather than raise standards, it’s far easier to simply lower expectations.

If you can’t see his quality vs what else we can put out you’re mental. Doesn’t disguise his flaws, but he’s by about a million miles the most talented player in our squad. Educate him & get him to go lead, he’s honestly a rare talent. Harness the brain, it’s not outlandish to get him dominating a pitch. He’s Vieira & Zidane, just with the intellect (on the pitch now) of Darren Huckerby. Mourinho is nothing if he can’t get this guy dominating this league.

You can’t educate someone who doesn’t want it. We bought plenty of talent but gave no thought to mentality and character, and now we’re paying the price.

Somehow, a totally believable sentence in every respect.

Have we had a worse "star player" - ever?
