Default We need to talk about Robin

[SIZE="1"]This picture is a wonderful illustration of the lad's current form

1 goal in 9 games now, benched for Chelsea who he has a superb record against(would have been unimaginable 2 months ago).

What's wrong with Robin? Was the form between September and January just a fluke? Is the Arsenal loser mentality kicking in? Can't be denied anymore that the guy has gone into his shell when it matters most. Considering Rooney has something like 10 goals in his last 12 games it really is curious the level of abuse levelled at our favourite obese scouser not named Liza Tarbuck.

It's called burnout mate. You're talking about a player who up until last season was ravaged by injury and hadn't completed a full season at arsenal i don't think.

We've had to rely so heavily on him because out of our 4 strikers he's the only one scoring consistently this season.

He's been carrying a knock since QPR which won't have helped either.

I pray to god he regains his scoring touch for the final month of the season because we're going to need everybody firing on all cylinders

I certainly think he's been overplayed but that says more about froggles confidence in his two "reserve" strikers.

He's still got a couple of goals in him to help us towards the title but we'll be lucky to get a full season out of him again.

Jesus, talk about over-analysing. He's just played too often and is still carrying an injury from QPR. He'll be fine. Should maybe be left out altogether at the weekend as Reading are a managerless pile of dogshit.

we don't seem to be getting the best out of him.

maybe hes knackered, he did hurt his likkle hip against qpr.

he should get a couple of goals against reading to boost his confidence.

Well for the last 6 years his season has been over by this time. Just needs to get adjusted to actually competing for something.

yep. he's used to switching off..

will be hard to get rid of that 'bottle' instinct that wenger instilled into him from an early age.

I think this too.
I also think he might have lost a bit of confidence after that miss in Madrid.
No shame in that, strikers always have peaks & troughs in front of goal.

He's a fantastic player who's just a bit off his game at the minute. If he scores on Saturday or away at Sunderland he'll go on a bit of a run which should seal the Title.

I still maintain Rooney should have started against Madrid at home mind you.
We needed goals in that game & you simply weren't going to get them from the players he selected on current form.
According to the sages on here Rooney was 'SHIT' against Chelsea & Norwich, but he still scored as many goals as Welbeck has managed all season in those games.
+ I think Rooney would have given the Madrid defence a more physical battle too.

That's no criticism of Van Persie at all. He's had a £#%&!ing brilliant first season at the Club.
