So it was your fault?

Said to the lad behind me where’s the £#%&!er that was chucking them in at Arsenal ffs

That third save was superb.

As much as I’ve criticised Rashford’s finishing, they were really
Good saves. First one was the best chance. Tje other two were outstanding saves. Actual good ones too, not those wobbly oddball saves that Omonia keeper was making.

Goals will come for him. His workrate and overall play is good and he’s getting chances. He can finish. He’s just not right now.

Good saves but the second one like Henry said, if he just passes it in it’s a goal. He didn’t need to hit it so hard. Hopefully it comes good for him , he still seems like he is playing with the weight of the world on his shoulders. Needs to be a bit more composed and his play will improve vastly

yeah i said that last night, keeps trying to kill the ball when he shoots.

that last one was perfect for a nice pass into the bottom right corner of the goal, but he lashes it far too close to Lloris

No, I don’t disagree. He needs to recognise that not everything needs power. But there’s degrees of finishes. They weren’t bad, just needed to be a bit more composed.

I don’t know if he’s trying to emulate Ronaldo of yesteryear where he managed to hit everything with power and accuracy or he is just used to coming in off the wing and hitting with power but he needs some CF coaching.

I’m sure the Erik and the staff will look at the videos and relay it into him. Probably something martial does a little better than him , he is ice cold when In similar positions.

As much as tony m was on my shitlist. Since ETH arrived he has been the best striker (atleast in preseason and the glimpses we saw when he isn’t injured) just a shame he can’t stay fit .

Rashford plays much better on the left and maybe might just give competition for Sancho to raise his game. If martial gets fit and stays fit , there’s a nice little domino effect that can happen on the team and kick them up a gear. (Big IF I know)

Maybe it’s largely anxiety with Rashford. Henry mentioned it and said he needed to “ stand up “ or “freeze” the keeper , then stroke it in. No need to slam it every time. Played well.

Just watched it back again and that was by far our best for a long time. Solid as. Obvs enjoyed beating arse/dippers but this was convincing. A decent show vs Chavs and we’re looking like a team.

Just shows, all this “needs time” .. Erik’s had a pretty fragmented start against tough oppo most games, yet come up with a very respectable start.

Think it’s even more remarkable considering ,as another poster put it on another thread, he was taking over a clown convention.

3 of his signings started yesterday. Sprinkle a few more of his players , a CF , another CM for depth , a passing sweeper keeper and we can challenge for the title next season

Some good switching of tactics at times getting Rashord up against Dier on a De Gea long ball worked well. Clear instructions to have shots from around the box at first opportunity.

Fitness and desire was outstanding.

That’d be good but hey, just enjoying the football right now. Very impressed so far. Done well vs the top sides and even Everton (a) always tricky and reffed out of the Newcastle game. Both those last 2 had among the best defensive stats until we played them. If not for appalling ref decisions in both, we’d be even better placed.

Was fully expecting us to run out of steam at some point in the 2nd half and spend the last 20/30 minutes of the game desperately hanging on to our lead.

The fact it never happened is a great sign going forward.

92nd min Bruno closed down and tackled the spurs LCB or LWB. That’s the attitude and application we want to see.

Rashford played really well. It's easy to rest your brew on your belly and type your criticisms of Rashford's shooting but 2 of Lloris's saves were exceptional.

This.

We played well for 90 minutes. We haven’t done that in a long time.

he didn't snatch wildly at the shots. he didn't dawdle unnecessarily or try to be too precise. very little wrong with his creativity or finishing. he could have put two shots right in the corner, but.... not much wrong with the shots.

Some good analysis, that, Armers.

In a few weeks, we’ve gone from having no midfield to multiple options. Also, huge improvement in defence. Just need to sharpen up in front of goal.

Good point about Bruno. Not only does the forward line benefit having Martial or Rashford up top, instead of Ronaldo, it also benefits Bruno, who had one of his best games for a long time because he had fluid options in front of him, rather than a demanding, static Ronaldo.

I don’t think we’ll have that solid Fred/Cas partnership vs Chelsea but will opt for Eriksen. If Martial is fit, play him as striker with Rashers wide left.

Keeping Martial fit is going to be crucial for us. You can see from
Preseason that ETH values him. He’s got the fluidity to play the way ETH wants and he’s our best finisher by a mile. He’d have 3 or 4 goals this week with Rashford’s chances. It also gives us the option of swapping out Rashford, Sancho and Antony, while also getting Rashford back into his favoured left side position. I will even tolerate some sporadic Elanga.

We still need a CF, of course, but a fully fit Martial will give us far more than a sulking Ronaldo.

Makes sense except a fully fit Martial is more hope over reality.
