 I decided to do a video compilation on another of the unsung heroes of our great 60s side, Sir Norbert of Stiles Nobby Stiles is one of only 2 English players to have won both the World Cup and European Cup in their football career Although remembered as being one of English's football most unlikely hard men, Nobby was much better all round footballer than he was given credit for as I hope this video shows |

Went to his This Is Your Life filming 20 years ago. Pint in the Rovers, met George and Dennis along with Robbo and others. Very humble bloke.

Met him at a sportsmans dinner in wigan about 1998ish and a top bloke had time for everyone and a few tasty jokes in his speech

Was diagnosed with having prostate cancer a few months ago.

Loved the interview with him from years ago. He talked about walking up to the ground and dreaming that the announcer would declare that the team were one short and could Norbert Stiles come and get changed. None of these stupid playing for Arsenal dreams. Top red.

Wonderful stuff - and great point re him and Sir Bobby and what they have won.
How many people have won both now? Must be lots of Germans/Bayern players, Spanish/Barca/Madrid players on the list too. Zidane? Fantastic stuff. |

You may not know this, but Nobby Stiles is a Wolves legend. He is the man who discovered Steve Bull whilst he was working for WBA. I basically owe all of my happy childhood footballing memories watching Bully smash 50+ goals in consecutive seasons to Nobby.
