Default pc memory question

have some error with my pcs memory and windows 10 memory check confirmed it.

I have a x99s sli plus (ms-7885) motherboard with 4x8gb memory running quad-channel currently.

Can I replace them with 2 16gb kits?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...k_ql_qh_dp_hza

The memory is compatible with the pc BUT is there any issue in using two kits together or would I be better off just getting a 32gb (2x16bg) kit. I hear that kits are put together with memory that has been tested together and sometime two of the exact same model memory can have issues together.

my understanding is they always advice matching sets for best compatibility but as long as you are doing it dual channel both sets should work.

i am assuming here you want to have 2x16gb and 2x8gb running? or were you just asking is it is better to take all four current ones out and replace with a 2x16gb set?

yeah clicking your link it is the latter isnt it? i have done it loads of times before and never had an issue so i would say yes

I want to get 2 sets of 2x8gb so 4x8gb in total.

I currently have 4x8gb - I want to recreate that.

I'd go with this, if only for the reliability. The upgrade before last I went from dual to quad channel. Any improvement was negligable in reality, and after a few months one of the sticks started devoloping errors running at 3333mhz, so had to run them all at 2666mhz until I got a day to stress test them to find the faulty culprit.

Just upgraded recently and went for dual channel again instead of quad.

Haven't had an issue since. I've got 2x16 ddr4 3200 unopened. I wonder was it just a bit of dust or something.
