No way. Could you imagine his reaction to the liverpool or arsenal game this year.
I was a major fan of his and still appreciate what he did as a player but he's a timebomb.
If he really walked away because the going got tough then I wouldn't even want him managing my 5-aside.

Completely agree. Keane strikes me as the last person who would be an assistant. The assistant has to have a more approachable nature and be a 'friend' to the players. Keane seems to alienate players. Not surprising that no Sunderland player has come out today or last night to express their shock/sadness at Keane's departure.

I imagine an assistant would need to be bubblier than the mangager- who can afford to take a back seat and be a little more studious. Keane would also have no real authority. Can't see that working.

Doesn't fit at all, for me. I suspect people want him purely because he's Keane, not anything to do with Coaching at all.

I don't think we'll see Keane back in the game for a good long while.

Keane has never struck me as one for the banter tbh. He would be worse than the manager in the way he is around the players. He is far too headstrong and opinionated to be an effective assistant. It would be a disaster. He is still bitter about the way the club 'booted' him out the door after all he had done for the club.

Meulensteen is a good coach. I have seen him operate as I have mentioned before. He was originally brought in as a technique and skills coach.

Everyone likes to have their two penneth when it comes to Mickey Phelan but he is widely respected as one of the best coaches in the game. I still think Ferguson could have done with a foreign assistant given the diversity of our squad but hey ho. Maybe there was no one about. I was surprised he didn't fancy Poyet.

I would have liked Poyet too. Robert Martinez was an interesting one flying around too. I like the idea of a foreign coach to bring a little variation to the table and someone to talk to the foreign lads.

Keane was never really one of the lads so to speak, he's said so himself in the past. He doesn't socialise with the players nor was he ever really involved in some of the training ground humour. He takes the game too seriously for that. Keane is an authoritarian. Like Ferguson yet Fergie has mellowed with age it seems. Fergie was a £#%&!ing header in his 50's.

Keane is someone tha can have a laugh and a joke when he fancies it but he's deffo not well into all the banter like say Nicky Butt or Ryan Giggs are. I'v heard it from decent sources. It's not a big deal.

Outside football he knocks about with his brothers, that's pretty much it. Whenever I'd see him out boozing in Hale he'd be with them and that's all. He has said in his book etc that he prefers to go home and walk his dog rather than go for a few pints with his team mates.

Iv always imagined Keano to be the type of player that wouldn't look at you if you made a mistake. He gets over stuff but in the heat of the moment he is a lunatic. By all accounts Keano had his faves and didn't get on with half the squad all that well. People respect him because of his success rate and desire to win.

My boss is a @#%&! but people respect him because he is so driven. It's the same thing really. Keano is a legend of our club but forget it if you think he is some banter Lord. It's not a criticism just the reality of the situation.

He reminds of a gaelic manager I used to have.

He was a £#%&!ing nightmare.

certainly don't have any problems with the set up at United myself and hope that it will flourish as expected

the whole Keane thing is still a romantic notion for me though and I hope that someone like him who stands up for his principles will eventually find success as a manager at a decent club

the idea that he may be a loose canon with a set of loose screws and missing butties just adds to it btw - i like that rogue mentality and non-conformity in a person; people who don't have a certain maverick character to their being are non-inspirational, and even worry me slightly when I'm around them for too long

this probably says a lot about me

i certainly hope so, anyway
nicely put TT.

Always enjoy reading your football related posts. Respect your opinion as you certainly seem to know your stuff.

When it comes to life in general you're completely hatstand, expecting a family of 5 to live off £12.36 a week etc etc :shakehead: ...but, when it's about togger, you're usually bang on the money...

I don't want him anyware near the club, especially after all the shite he came out with on MUTV. What coaching pedigree does he have anyway?

We've been much better off since he £#%&!ed off to Celtic. Great atmosphere around the team atm, we don't need him turning up and ruining it.

He'll be back and not as manager of Ireland either. He deserves better.
United supporters owe him a lot.
I think you'll find it's Keane who owes united supporters. We made him a multi millionaire. Cheered his name for years and in return he came out with his prawn sandwich comment which was seized upon by every abu out there. He's had very few good things to say about us since he left and everyone is still waiting for Roy's condemnation of Glazer. Keane was very handsomnely rewarded for his time at United. We owe him £#%&! all.

Dunno what you are on about? i was complimenting you. As to changing opinions, I sometimes do, based on the evidence in front of me, not sure why that is a bad thing. surely stubbonly sticking to one opinion no despite any change in circumstance is a bad thing? anyway, as i said, I was complimenting you so there was no need for snippiness.
