Football Rafael...

what a player the lad is. 18 years old. made one or two slight errors, but more than made up for them today coming forward today. a player in the typical united mould. the futures bright, the futures Da Silva*

(*Bunks - you can use that for your next t-shirt design)

Love watching him play, no fear in the tackle, confident going forward.

We have a gem on our hands

I think he will eclipse mad paddy (who as much as I love, seems restricted to the use of his sweet left peg).

he played some £#%&!ing great balls in today, and reckon he'll be scoring more than Paddy. and he's only 18. and he's got an identical twin brother whose supposed to better...............

He's a £#%&!ing cracker, he's obviously stronger attacking but he's no slouch defensively he actually puts in some Wesley-esque tackles and his bro is supposed to be the better of the two.

he's got the character to handle it too. I can sense it about the lad, he's just not fazed by any of it. he was loving it at the end

he looked a bit light today, and his touch let him down a few times. but for an 18-year-old kid against a team who were content to park 11 men behind the ball that's to be expected. clearly got shitloads of potential, and if he gets anywhere near evra's level we'll be well in.

Best use for Neville now is to use him to "mentor" Rafael, as clearly the defensive role is the weakest part of his game.

If you could then produce a G Neville/Roberto Carlos hybrid, he'd be the best fullback in the World.

There wasn't a player on the pitch who's touch didn't let them down in the first half. Even Berbie.

He was fantastic, again

Agree with that.

Would be good to get an experienced English fullback to teach him the "dark arts" of defending though.

The next time someone says he might get done in the air call them a liar. He won most of the headers that came his way today and was challenging Diouf or Cisse.

He also managed to get round Andy Reid in one move, that isn't easy.

I bet he was fooked after running that far. Fitness coaches don't make allowances for challenge like that.

Sunderland have taken the concept of "parking the team bus" in front of the goal onto a different level.

Stick Andy Reid in there.

He has the mass of Jupiter.
