If any hasn't seen yet, the Pele documentary on Netflix highly recommended. A lot of footage I'd never seen before. Cements his status as one of the very best.

Pele's funeral is today. Saw some of the images of crowds on the street before the route which shows how much he means to the people. This snippet is very sad however

The funeral procession will see Pele's coffin stop outside the home of his 100-year-old mother.

According to our sports presenter Jacquie Beltrao, the footballer's mother Celeste Arantes is bedbound.

The coffin will stop outside her home briefly before turning around and heading towards Pele's final resting place.

The footballer's sister Maria Lucia do Nascimento, who cares for their mother, said previously that Ms Arantes was not aware of Pele's death.

"We talk but she doesn’t know the situation. She’s in her own world," she told Brazilian journalists.

"She opens her eyes when I mention his name and say, 'we're going to pray for him', but she's not really conscious of what I'm saying."

At the end of the procession, the coffin will arrive at the Ecumenical Memorial Necropolis cemetery.

Pele will be buried on the ninth floor, overlooking the Urbano Caldeira stadium where he played for 18 years.
