Exclamation David Silva

Made an approach for him according to the #@&%! Ballague. He's a top player.

Manchester United make approach for David Silva

Manchester United have made an approach for David Silva of Valencia. The player’s agents were contacted by fax, yesterday, and informed of the Premiership club’s interest in the 22 year old Spanish international.

United’s move for David Silva is timely: the player has been in talks with the new regime at the Mestalla over an improved contract offer, but negotiations have stalled, with both sides said to be some considerable distance apart in their respective bargaining positions. With talks rescheduled for later next week, the news that Silva has rejected Valencia’s latest offer has travelled fast and, in spite of Sir Alex Fergusons suggestion that United’s activities in the transfer market were over, it is clear that an opportunity to sign a player of the calibre of David Silva is too good to let pass for the current European Champions.

United face competition from FC Barcelona who are also preparing a bid for Silva. The Catalans have been waiting in the wings to see how the situation at the Mestalla unfolds, and with Valencia said to be in urgent need of funds to pay off a sizeable instalment on their massive debts next month, Barcelona had been optimistic that a bid approaching €25 million would be enough to secure the extremely talented Spanish international. Silva’s prospective suitors were given further hope yesterday: with David Villa’s agent suggesting that it was increasingly likely that Valencia’s other most valuable asset would remain, it would appear that it is David Silva who will be sacrificed in order to bring some much needed cash to the financially trouble club.

Because it has to be in writing and an email does not count as such.

Brilliant - another non-striker.

Anyway, as previously noted. Ballague is a snivelling little bullshitter.

I always used to like Ball-bag until he said Torres was a cert for united after World Cup 06, he never came and ended up at the Vermin of all places.

Cant imagine this is true?

Doesnt seem to be the type of player we need, no denying that he's a good player though. Although it would add to our collection of midgets..which has grown by two with the twins.

but, if he's not forthcoming, SILVA would be a great signing and he'd be welcome to marry my sister any day.

Yeah, but it's David Silva, not David Villa

Seems Martin Lipton has finally got around to reading "Scoop" Balgue's website. He's mixed up £'s and euros of course :-

Manchester United want £20m Valencia striker David Silva
Exclusive by Martin Lipton, Chief Football Writer 12/08/2008

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson wants to land Valencia's Euro 2008 star David Silva in a shock swoop.

The Old Trafford club made their move last week when a £20million offer was knocked back by the cash-strapped Spanish club.

But Fergie is not taking no for an answer and is ready to improve his bid over the next 48 hours, especially if Spurs insist they will not accept a cut-price fee for Dimitar Berbatov.

The left-sided Silva was a key member of Luis Aragones's European champions although he is best remembered in this country for the 35-yard stunner he smashed past Chelsea keeper Petr Cech in the Champions League quarter-final at Stamford Bridge last year. Silva is more of an attacking midfielder than an out-and-out striker.

But Ferguson believes veteran Ryan Giggs is now only really able to operate through the middle, rather than out wide. Valencia are in financial chaos after the collapse of takeover talks.

But they insist they do not want to sell either Silva or team-mate David Villa.

The reality, though, is that substantial offers for both are likely to be successful, knowledge that saw United make their initial move.

That was rebuffed, with Valencia looking to provoke Barcelona into making a counter-offer for Silva, while Real Madrid are mulling over a move for Villa.

Berbatov remains Fergie's prime target but Spurs will still expect at least £30m for the Bulgarian hitman.

Thanks Ginster, one aims to please.

Why would United, if it were true we weren't getting Berbatov, turn to a left winger instead? Makes no sense at all.

By the way, i was hoping for some positive feedback on my use of "Scoop" Balague and am now very disillusioned.

silva is a very good player, if we were to get him AND a striker then there would be no problem.

i dont think it will happen personally
