Our transfers, even the rare successful ones, are so protracted and tiresome you end up being not arsed either way

If he is what they think he is, £68m is by no means a crazy fee.

That was rare enough though. They've nearly always been painful affairs even in Fergie's day. Dragged on like £#%&!, and foundered at the last moment so many times for one reason or another - Laudrup, Kluivert, Thuram, Nadal, Salas, Di Canio, Anderton, Overmars, Ronaldinho, Hazard to name a few.

also the times of agents being so heavily involved means its not that simple with player image rights social media blah blah

add to that we are in a downfall the position they have to negotiate is a terrible one
