Oh - I like Lindelof

Dalot? Mount? Bruno? Our rapey attackers?

Would you really want to be in the trenches with them?

The club has now shown they basically make critical team decisions based off perceived public opinion

they have set a very very dangerous precedent.

The greenwood stuff was different, the evidence was out there, there was no debate about that. This is entirely wrong, the club should have stood behind the player until any charges were forthcoming and continued to allow him to play.

Where do we draw the line here? Is it simply accusations of violence against women and they're dropped or is it any kind of violence? Speeding tickets? Drink driving? The club have handled this and the Greenwood situation absolutely abysmally.

No, there was a debate but one side decided not to listen to the other as they were so convinced of being in the right.

And this is the direct consequence of that. We decided the court of public opinion was making the important decisions.

I think you’re simplifying this case a little bit tbh. There’s no way he’s stayed in Brazil and United have gone along with it just because Antony fancied the craic and wanted to have a word with his missus.

I actually hope I’m very wrong but I think we’re about to hear some pretty dark shit and I’d be very surprised if this is resolved in ours or Antony’s favour. There’s far too much smoke imo.

Peak banter ? Wait till he doesn't come back and we're sticking mount in there 4 down against Liverpool at home...

He's surely got to attend local interviews and criminal proceedings so hopes it can be done quickly in country then fly back in a few weeks or so..

Brazilian police definitely extorting him, but he’s not willing to give in to the pressure. You know how these things go. Probably in a cell right now being waterboarded while they demand 500,000 reais.

Free Antony
21 hours in captivity
Shoes too small to fit his feet
His body abused but his mind is still free
Are you so blind that you cannot see? I said
Free Antony, I'm begging you

The ‘Antony’ bit is really not scanning at all. It needs to be 5 syllables to sync with the original and it’s only 3. You can’t even stretch them easily to make it fit.

‘Tony dos Santos’ works better but no one really knows who that is.

I’ve tried but I just think it probably best if this is not pursued.

It’s not about the syllables, it’s about the message.

according to Daniel Taylor of the guardian, at one point last season there were 6 different PL clubs who had players under police investigation for rape/violence against women.

only seems to be united where it becomes public knowledge and prevents the player continuing to play..

We shouldn't even be suspending players for being accused of something. I can understand it if the player doesn't want to play/train because there is a lot going on but otherwise they are innocent in the eyes of the law and should be allowed go on with their professional and private lives.

Surely there’s a level that has to be reached before it becomes public knowledge. Knowing the state of footballers and the general society that associates itself I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t happening every week.

It’s not like we’re the only club who’ve had to deal with it recently I guess we’ve just got two examples who’ve gone passed the threshold of “oh ffs how much do you want to keep quiet?”

That’s United’s fault. They made a rod for their own back by allowing public opinion to affect their decisions. We can’t complain because other teams don’t have such weak leadership.
