Ripip top red

One of his most successful films was based on an experience he had in the bishops Blaize

A crew of cockney reds who had first got together at the BAFTA awards had plotted up in the Bishops early doors, with the intention of ambushing a Leeds crew who were due to walk past LMC at about 2.45pm

Fuelled up by several glasses of Sauvignon blanc the cockney reds, aka “the film crew” were just getting ready to launch their attack when Boylie got up on a table and started a rendition of Eric the King. The film crew discussed his vocal range, cinematic profile, potential star quality and decided they couldn’t use him...preparing for battle they pulled out film scripts and folded them into “millwall bricks”...but just as they were about to leave, Boylie was pushed off the table and replaced by an ugly ginger bogtrotting day tripper wearing a Guinness hat. He started singing “from the banks of the river irwell” And he had the voice of an angel. He was joined onstage by 2 Dublin slappers who were over for their first game ..they acted as backing singers.
Alan was transfixed...whilst the rest of the film crew battered Leeds outside LMC, Alan arranged to meet the irish lot at their hotel after the game (they were staying at Sachas in town)

The rest is history
