Default Varane

Looks a bad one that. Don't usually get tears on the pitch unless it's ligaments or serious muscle tear..... We're just not gonna get 15 consecutive appearances out of this guy are we.

Crying shame tbh because him and Martinez look the business.

You could see the bloke was utterly distressed, why were the Chelsea fans giving him such grief ?

Clue is in the name.

Varane is a top, top world class centre back. Always was. Didn't play in either the Brentford or Brighton losses, and only half hour at City. He's brittle, which is a shame, but there should be a 3rd functional - if not equivalent - caliber player able to step in to cover minutes when he is out. Maybe there will be in the future. One of the best in the world in his position is more than worth having in the squad, and you accept the downsides that come with it.

He’s looked the best he’s looked for us the last couple of games too.

Just typical.

Add a starting CB along side a CF as urgent buys for the next two windows.

So disappointing isn’t it. Only thing he managed to walk off didn’t look in major pain when greeting Erik. Might be clutching at straws hopefully back for Thursday

He can’t be relied upon to play the majority of the season. Tough one to navigate when it’s your starting CB.

Lindelof will do until after the WC.

Do not pick Maguire ffs.

Laporte played less than half City's league games in 2 out of the 3 previous seasons. Matip under 10 league games in 2 out of the 3 previous seasons at Liverpool. Van Dijk + Ruben Dias also both have had lengthy spells out. It happens. World class centre backs are like hens teeth (Fofana went for 70 mil this summer .. and he too is injury prone) so allowances must be made and take the good with the bad; the important thing is having at least a functional back up who plays well in the system of the team to step in.

Looks more like a hamstring rather than ligaments, judging by the way he managed to walk off. If that’s the case, I’d put his distress down to missing the WC as much as any pain. He’d be stretchered or shouldered off if it was ligaments, to avoid further damage, if nothing else.

New Year = new start?

Are you referring to Varane, or another player? If so, who?
