we're Man United, we shouldn't have to sell our best player to fund a rebuild.

and if he wants top whack give it to him, performance based.

It’s 2022… his contract runs until 2024 earliest.

As said above, sell the @#%&!s who earn more then him then he is the top earner.

We might, when we end up buying him back in a couple of years. Would rather we invest that kind of money in another Pogba or a Maguire though.

Pogba is top earner isn’t he? He’s off in a minute. Then DdG, going nowhere, ever, because nobody else is thick enough to pay him that kind of money.

Don't blame him. Best player, 27, could pick any club in the world.

Yup. Especially when you have ambition and drive. We are finished as a club always trying to patch the thing that was wrong 2 years ago forgetting all the other things that have gone wrong since.

4 years left on his contract?

He’s 27

Just let him run down the contract while still playing for us ffs… why does he even need a new contract.

The way he plays he’ll be broken by the time he’s 30 anyway.

Well I guess we could sell our best player by a large distance.

Or we could, yknow, pay him something that actually reflects the fact that he’s our best player, consistently gives absolutely everything on the pitch, unlike some of the utter £#%&!s paid far more than him.

This.

Don't blame him if he wants out but selling your best players is never a good idea imo.

Yeah, but what kind of message would that be sending eh?

Madness. We should be grateful that he even wants to stick around.

You know as absurd as this is. It would be typical of the club to “try and not give big contracts out to players as before” to try and make a statement. Then give the media a press release over how things are different

That they’re not doing the dumb shit they were doing before with Jones, bailly, etc not realising this is the one time you would give a contract with a wage increase on a player.

Yeah, lets £#%&! off one of our best players & one of the very few who can conjure up something out of nothing on the pitch.

Let's go the whole hog & move Ragnick upstairs & hire Rafa £#%&!ing Benitez. Then our transition into Everton will be complete.

I’d stop playing him in midfield and have him as an out and out no 10 like Cantona. Whilst he does have amazing goal stats, he can also be the most wasteful or ineffective.

This is also, influenced by the fact I have no real idea what our formations or style (urgh) of playing is. I last understood it when it was 442 (maybe 433 of 2008) and would like to go back.

The last part might be the problem pal. Performance based? Most of the current squad would be living on the £#%&!ing streets currently.

I’d like to think this is a nothing story. He seems happy enough to be here and we SURELY value him.

Selling him would be insane.

Despite his flaws and frustrations, Our best player since his signing by a country £#%&!ing mile.

He has to be played more forward in the No. 10 or False Number 9 or my newly created Hogwarts Express position, a 9 and 3/4.

Until we buy better players, a front 6 of

Lindelof
Fred
The Scottish Player

Greenwood
Bruno
Elanga

will shore us up,
