[SIZE="4"]Man United - Champions League so far: Villarreal - Atalanta - Atalanta - Villarreal - Young Boys [SIZE="4"]Young Boys Champions League so far: Atalanta - Villarreal - Villarreal - Atalanta - Man United __________________________________________________ [SIZE="4"]Team News: Man United: Shaw, Pogba, Cavani, Varane, Martial and Lingard all set to be missing. Thankfully Phil Jones isn’t in our Champions League squad so he will not be able to play today. Young Boys: David von Ballmoos, Cedric Zesiger, Christian Fassnacht, Jean-Pierre Nsame, Ulisses Garcia and Felix Mambimbi are all set to miss out through injury. __________________________________________________ [SIZE="4"]Previous Meeting: We last met Young Boys just under three months previous, but it feels like a lifetime ago. It took place at the £#%&!dorf Stadium on the opening night of this seasons Champions League journey. The first warning sign came in the second minute after Sancho got easily dispossessed and Young Boys managed to bypass our midfield of Donny and Fred with little more than a hopeful pass. That allowed Elia to pick up the ball and run at our back, before scuffing a low shot side of the far post. Our Champions League campaign then looked like it had got off to a flyer. Shaw found some space down the left and gave possession to Bruno. Bruno carried the ball forward a little, then caressed a peach of an outswinger across the Young Boys box for Ronaldo to squeeze the opening goal past the Young Boys goalkeeper. We were in complete control of the game, right up until the 35th minute. AWB played a one-two with Donny, picking up space on the inside of the pitch. But unfortunately his first tough for the return pass was Lukaku-esque, punting the ball into the path of a Young Boys defender. Instead of giving up possession and just looking a bit shit, he decided to try and lunge to try and control a ball that was at this point was never his. Completely missing the ball as expected, he planted his foot far too high on the Young Boys player, and was immediately dismissed by the referee. Then it all went to shit. We were lucky not to concede again within minutes of AWB getting his marching orders when Fassnacht found himself with acres of space and running onto the end of a ball perfect to be hit. But he saw his effort fly narrowly wide of the far post. And that was it for the first half. It took 20 minutes into the second half but Young Boys finally equalised, but it was coming. A low ball across the box found a way to squeeze past Maguire and onto the toe of Ngamaleu which diverted the ball past a desperate De Gea. 1-1. After the 10 men of United being put under almost constant pressure by Young Boys for almost half an hour, the resistance finally gave in in the last minutes of the 5 added on. And it was all of our doing. And when I say ‘our’, I mean ‘Lingard’. Not much to say, he played a perfect ball through his own backline for Siebatcheu to run onto and slot home the winner. Not the best start to this seasons European Cup run. __________________________________________________ [SIZE="4"]Match Tit Bits This is the 4th meeting between ourselves and Young Boys. We won the first two, before losing the third that took place earlier this season.Swiss teams have only won two of their last 27 games away from home against English opposition in European Competition, drawing 8 and losing the other 17. Both wins came for Basel (vs Chelsea in 2013 and City in 2018). We are unbeaten in the Champions League since losing to Young Boys in the opening game. The last time we went 5 without defeat was in the Group Stage under David Moyes in 2013-14. How £#%&!ing depressing is that. Young Boys have lost their last 6 away games in the European Cup proper, taking place between 1986 - 2021. Their last away win happened in August 1960 against Limerick. They have also failed to score in 5 of their last 6 away games (scoring only the one goal), while they’ve conceded 15. We have won our three Champions League games this season with goals scored with at most 15 minutes left to play, the most of any team in the competition. __________________________________________________ [SIZE="4"]Match Prediction

Should be a good game for the likes of Donny and a few others. Matic also confirmed as captain.
Difficult to predict because I’m sure there’s a few youngsters and fringe players going to start. Probable team: Henderson AWB—Bailly—Lindelof—-Shaw Matic - Mata Lingard—Donny Greenwood—Elanga |
