The 'big picture' cost of missing out prime targets like Sancho will be far more than the few million we're trying to save.

That right there is the single biggest statement that sums up everything in our transfer dealings and sporting competitiveness since Fergie and David Gill left the club

We've had some absolute shit come thru the door since those two left the club and 90% of those buys were reaction buys because they wouldn't spend the extra few million pounds to bring in a special player which long term has cost us winning trophies, fighting for league trophies and ultimately missing on CL money.

What i find most odd is that the Glazers are "sporting" business men having run United for almost two decades and the same for their american football team. They have to realize the best way for them to maximize potential earnings is buy putting a top product on the pitch that is successful. They've done it this year with their american football team which puzzles me why they haven't done the same with United which is most definitely their biggest money investment and profit earner.

You spend the extra 10-15m on Sancho, you'll earn that money 2 or 3 times over just with a successful CL campaign which takes you in the quarters or semi finals of the CL.

It seems like the pandemic, lack of game day revenue or something long term has them spooked about investing too heavily right now in the squad.

We've never recovered from the Glazers trousering the vast portion of the Ronaldo money when they were re-financing in 2009. Ferguson was their shield with the bullshit 'no value in the market' when City were signing Silva, Aguero and Toure and Chelsea getting Hazard.

We've been making panic buys at hugely over inflated prices ever since.

we've yet to submit an official bid for the player so there is no chance we walk in next week and they accept an initial 90m bid

The 'official' bid would be one they have already negotiated...

I wonder how our final bid of £75m plus £15m in 'add ons' is going

£75m cash up front is a lot of money to turn down as opposed to paying it over installments like you see with most big money deals

I suspect its Woodward's play at trying to make people think we might sign him before the deadline. Stringing people along.

We paid £80m+ upfront for Maguire. Sancho is worth much more based on ability, age, potential and marketability.
