He's the best striker we've produced in god knows how long. A complete centre forward, but people who say his finishing lets him down have a point. He misses more than he should for a player with so much talent.

Now this is the story all about how*
A local lad came good from across town
And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there*
I'll tell you how he became the prince of his town, Manchester*

In Longsight Manchester, born and raised*
On the playground where he spent most of his days*
Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool*
Shooting some football outside of school*
When a couple of scouts, that thought he was good*
Said come and play for a team in your neighbourhood*
They said you know Man United, now don't get scared
Because one day you'll become the prince of your town, Manchester

Made me laugh.

welbeck's averaging about a goal every 4 games, not great for a striker. those figures are skewed by previous seasons when he was just breaking through.

last season, all comps, he had 15 starts (12 appearances as sub) and scored 12. plenty of room to improve but not bad at all.

don't know much players who improve so quickly once they get a goal or a boost of confidence like danny. During his first couple of games at the start of last season he was nervous until he scored then he's £#%&!ing everywhere. Confidence is a massive factor for big Welbz.

No, he had 27 starts with 12 appearances as a sub.

He faded a little in Feb/March. To be expected in his first season as a starter. Looked a bit sharper in the last few weeks and has carried that upturn into this tournament.

Major talent, even as an 18yo he had flashes of brilliance amidst the rawness and naivety. Great attitude for the game as well, a hard worker. Utd have to make sure that his development is not stalled by signings this coming season, has the potential to be a top class all round forward.

If we're talking debut goals, I'd have to go for Macheda's every single time.

Shame that, unlike Danny, he hasn't lived up to the hype.
