Had a couple of days off work and been for an amble both times.

Higher Buwardsley yesterday followed by a bite at the Pheasant Inn, and Marbury Park today followed by eating at The c**k.

Nice to just get out in that nature, and say morning to random strangers

Christmas and new year have been generally dry with wonderful weather for some winter walks. I, however, had booked and pre paid a hotel for last Saturday.

Not only was the m6 shut all weekend but the weather was amongst the worst Ive ever encountered. As soon as we got out of the car we were piss wet through and Id somehow managed to bring my daughters water proof trousers rather than my own meaning I only had running tights on.

We managed only two of the four we were doing (grey crag and tarn crag - Far Eastern side) before we bailed out. There were 70 mph winds on the tops and entrenched fog. No visibility, freezing cold and horizontal rain from the moment we stepped out until we got back in the car.

Horrific.

Had visions of rescue report suggesting they had helped a group of walkers - one of which was wearing American tan 10 denier tights

We were in the hotel by 2pm and ended up rat arsed so not all bad.
