Default rooster potato controversy


what he calls basic reds are what i've known as roosters my entire life

I hate maris piper potato.

wtf is going on?

I've a bag of potatoes from lidl and one from marks both marked "roosters" and both are red skinned.

I've bought red skinned spuds in the UK yonks ago, I'm sure they were called Leicestershire or Lincolnshire reds then.

yep, roosters i've seen have always been red

"Rooster is a red-skinned, yellow-fleshed cultivar of potato, duller in colour than the 'Désirée', with floury yellow flesh. It is uniformly roundish in shape with shallow eyes making it easy to peel. It is a general-purpose potato. It can be boiled, mashed, chipped, roasted, steamed and baked."

No concern re: the amount of spud wasted making chips with an apple corer?
