Primary school, cubs, high school, under 12s local (trial at blackpool), under 15s local (trial at everton), county 2nd team, injured. Couldn't be bothered after that.

Once played in a park versus a team that included someone who later got prosecuted for having sex with a donkey.

I struggled at county level because immediately realised most were posh/ grammar school types and we'd all have been signed by now if we were any good. To be fair 1 lad in our county team went on into the 1st division as it was then. He then never played a game and left.

My school only taught rugby and cricket, but still managed to captain our local football team then had to have glasses fitted. Meh. I was a smaller Paul scholes (if possible).

Did a good job for the Didsbury Devils in nets until a team mate smashed me square in the nuts. I prefer to watch my nephew lifting cups these days.

Did you face Prestwich Heys in the latter of those?

I've played against United A team early 90s when they used to be in the Lancashire League. Different class. Them, not me, unfortunately

Played at that level until 91/92, then started playing for the 3rd and 4th teams in the altrincham leagues, which was good fun
