Something missing for me. The football has been decent, but just doesn't feel as though there's enough riding on it.

Could be a me problem though.

Not even close. With the exception of Morocco and a few others, serious absence of each country's fans in numbers has been a huge negative. Some games have been completely dead atmosphere. The fans shouting Ronaldo's name sums it up.

A few good shocks early on but way too many teams playing not to lose rather than to win.

All has an exhibition vibe. Nah.

Hope England win though.

It's odd how most european nations aren't well represented with fans yet south americans have been.

Been a big source of confusion in my head that too.

Argentina Holland looked like more or less a full stadium of Blue and white. Maybe there are loads of them or loads with ties to that country in the middle east?

every world cup gets called the "greatest ever" when it's ongoing.

from recent memory, 2014 takes some beating for me imo.

I thought 06 was the last good one.

98 was godly in terms of star power.

Yep. “Recency”

That’s why some think CR was the goat.

The best world cup is the one on when you are around 12.

when you're 12, maybe you don't know how shit the officials are.

although.... the 76 cup final suggests otherwise.

maybe I just wasn't invested as much in 78 and didn't notice.

I actually thought this was the worst I’d seen but it picked up and has given us some memorable moments.

This - I always say either 82 or 86 were the best but if I had to watch the games again they could easily have been shit

Narey’s goal against brazil in 82 though - thinking that Scotland were actually going to beat Brazil. That thought lasted 15 mins

Alan Rough in goal after that chip

'86 was my favourite ( I was 13).

This World Cup has bored me with it's slow football, distinct lack of atmosphere both at home and in Qatar.. having it in the winter hasn't worked, it's ruined it for me.
