Didn't care about Philip either way when he was alive so his passing didn't really register anything. Only thing that was interesting in the coverage was how the tributes were mostly based on seven decades of "being by the queen's side" whatever that means. Husband supports wife, big deal? It just made the whole system even more antiquated. He could have stayed and climbed the ranks to the top in the navy. Maybe he had some hidden talent in sport, art or literature or he had a passion for science but because of who he married he couldn't pursue it and spent the bulk of his 'working' life cutting ribbons and handing over certificates. It's no wonder Harry left to chart his own course.

Mind you, Hattie Harperson has actually tried to claim him as a feminist icon

I think I watched this or something showing the same footage. There used to be a vid of him going on a rant on YouTube that made for genuinely uncomfortable viewing, but can not find it at all now.

I’m anti-PC culture but I think he was definitely racist.

Most people of his generation were, if we are being honest.
