Its not just an American thing tbh - more more lavish and sentimental the wedding, the greater the likelihood of divorce down the line.

Lots of the people I know who are still together decades later were married in registry offices FFS

My sister has had both, the shower is this weekend. The missus dodged the former but now feels she has to go to the shower. Stupid American shite.

The missus went to one in America...they had nappies with melted chocolate in so it looked like shit

my gf is organising one for her friend and she is doing that. marmite, mustard etc in nappies for some sort of weird game.

i told her what a load of unfunny balls it was, and she seemed offended and said loads of her friends had done it at their baby showers and it was just a laugh. mental

Some bell on my Facebook had a pregnancy announcement party, a gender reveal party and a baby shower.

Still hasn't had the f***ing kid.
