think defoe's finish there was a bit luckier than it looked. poor second touch nearly lost him position and then didn't look like he hit it that cleanly. went in, though, so fair play.

Not particularly quick. Ok going forward, but can't defend.

The fact that - despite injury problems for Brown and Neville - he hasn't made an impression for England says it all.

He's only in the side because there's alternative.

suffered from spending most of his career at clubs going backwards very fast
