Surprised Onreeeee wasn't included seeing as he spent half the game sulking on the left of midfield.

Just so I don't think I'm biased or going mad can someone name one attribute that Berkovic has that is greater than Scholes?

1. paul scholes
2. roy keane
3. david beckham
4. frank lampard
5. steven gerrard
6. patrick vieira
7. michael essien
8. claude makalele
9. paul ince
10. cesc fabregas

based on achievement as well as ability. i think essien has more talent than many of the others but hasn't achieved as much as, say, vieira, over an extended period.

ronaldo and giggs are not midfielders imo, hence not included.

If Giggs isn't a midfielder, neither is Stevie Mee...

this is from a pull out of lists that cam in yesterdays' game pullout in the times. it made for staggering reading in places but i know i am biased.

top team was arsenal 2001-2004.

was werid cos some of it was global, some european and some premier league only.

giggs goes in at number 2 if we count him as a midfielder. i've always thought of wingers as attackers tbh, but then i think a lot of shit at times.

I'd have to have Carrick ahead of Ince too. With Carrick we have won the League 3 seasons out of 3, reached the Champions lg final twice and semis. I know he was poor in Rome but he is very underrated player IMO.

Disagree there. Ince was better 92-95 than I think Carrick will ever be.

at his best (not too long, admittedly) ince was as good as any central midfielder i can remember bar robbo. genuine box to box with a lot more talent on the ball than he is remembered for. carrick is a good m/fder but he's not in that class.

Ince's best was not against the elite European teams though. It was against fairly average Premiership teams. Carrick has done it against the best Europe has to offer (Roma Final aside.)

Carrick is a more cultured player than Ince was, but Ince probably had more determination and drive.

Keane had both.
