He just doesn't rate Owen and that's his right.

Not sure it'll be a particuarly 'strong' side....especially at the back with us having so many injuries ahead of the start of the season.
I predict a young team with a splash of experience.

Foster

De Laet
Cathcart
Evans/Rio
Fletcher

Valencia
Carrick
Anderson
Nani/Tosic

Owen/Macheda
Rooney

Valencia.....Fletcher....Carrick....Nani

Would like to see what De Laet can do against decent opposition and this is an ideal chance.

I was impressed with him the other night.
Look's a good player.

Only seen him in an end of season 'dead rubber' & a friendly of course, but I like what I've seen.

He was impressive going forward. I'd like to see him tested by Malouda/ Zhirkov / Cole.

It'll also be interesting to see how Valencia does against Cole. Ronaldo rarely got the better of him.

-------------Berbatov-----------

Almost a 4-4-2 when we have the ball, the wingers will push right on & Rooney to drop off a touch.

Agree with some of the other comments re: de Laet. He's certainly been a bit of a surprise. We all know what JOS can do at right back. It would be well worth giving de Laet a few games against the smaller teams to see what he can do. He looked sharp coming forward on Wednesday and very little got past him. Against Joaquin he was playing against a decent winger.

This is Fergie.

Both Scholes and Giggs didnt play any part against Valencia. Nailed on they will both play maybe giggs behind Berbs or Rooney

He played in the friendly in S. Korea, not seen him since

I'd start with De Laet at right back as well, was very impressive on Wednesday.
