Default LvG: "I need full-backs"

Over to you, Ed

Quote:
Despite these injury problems, United are currently unbeaten in five matches across all competitions and van Gaal was asked during his press conference on Friday whether the Reds’ promising form has reassured him that he does not need to enter the January market.

“No, that is not true,” van Gaal responded to reporters. “You can see how unlucky we have been in the full-back position. I have started with Valencia, Shaw, Rojo, Darmian and Young, sometimes, and they are all injured - only Darmian is now back. So, I need full backs.

“You have seen how I have used youngsters like [Cameron] Borthwick-Jackson and [Guillermo] Varela, who are doing great, but the level of Manchester United is high and to give a high performance every week is normally very difficult for youngsters.

“This is why we have to look in this transfer period for replacements. The difficulty is that we ask for a level and the clubs do not want to sell in this period. That is our problem. We are looking but it is not so easy. Nobody can understand that because [people think] it is easy and it is not so.”

Borthers is good. So much that big Sparky hasn't mentioned 'comaface' for a few days.

Big splash on Ricardo Rodriguez then move him to the wing when Sheezy comes back?

Reckon right side more likely, tbh.

We've got a worldy on the left in Sheezy next season and Borthers looks interesting. Rojo and Blind for cover.

The other side is a mess. Could see a young/squad RB signed now and a first-choice in the summer.

Darmers will have that slot locked down by May. And I really want us to sign double R.

Sparky hates the yute dem. Think he compared Martial to Bellion initially, which I don't like to bring up.

Darmain at RB, Borthers at LB. Not difficult is it, LVG?

Unless it's a smoke screen for a worldy mindblowing winger

All our full backs besides Shaw and Darmian are average.

In fact, they ARE all our fullbacks apart from kids and wingers.

I don't expect much more from an academy kid who was never expected to feature this season. He's comfortable on the ball and doesn't look a liability. He'll do as third choice.

He's less of an issue at left back than our 27m quid midfielder.

Should go balls out for Carvajal now they've signed Danilo for big bucks. Think Zidane has put him back in the side though
