Sparky makes good points. You make good points. I agree that City’s cheating of the FFP system is obvious to all - the PL, other clubs, other owners, supporters - but it is and has been tolerated. Their corrupt wealth, and Chelsea’s has managed to attract ‘stars’ that has driven up TV revenue. All clubs and owners benefit from that. That said, this heat and alcohol may make me regret posting this.

Then suddenly overnight, City are able to command sponsorship deals to rival the likes of Madrid and Manchester United despite having nowhere near the global status or pull. And yet apparently nobody suspected anything.

Yeah right. If mr joe public down the pub could spot it you can bet your life people in the Premier League hierarchy knew it and other club chairmen knew it. The fact is it was an inconvenient truth. The abu Dhabi lot had descended on Manchester and seen about pouring money into the east side of the city thus securing themselves some nice political clout and plenty of good will.

I should imagine that the reason a lot of other clubs have kept their mouths shut is because they've probably got all sorts of dodgy shit to hide as well.
It's still a shithole around there 12 years on. They've invested £#%&!-all in the area. They're only bothered about sports-washing the country in the eyes of the world. They couldn't give a £#%&! if Janice and Frank at 23 Hellhole Walk want new windows.

Nailed it. Indirect value increase in their clubs (who won't ever win the league) means that they'll happily keep quiet.

But they've turned the tennis centre over to the vaccination roll out, there's two Metrolink stops and everything!!!

It pains to say it, but they do a lot locally - send academy players into local schools to do sports stuff. Bribery works on a local scale as well as national.

That's nothing new is it?

My wife works at a local school and they always get visits from Utd academy players, have done for years.

Also, twelve years of "investment" for one player.

Even FC United have been doing that. Rhodri Giggs got binned off because he refused to do it.

It's a real mystery isn't it. How did a club that can't even fill their own ground afford all these players eh? it's a really head scratcher.

The only surprising thing is that a British paper is reporting it.

Scenario 1: City finally comply fully with the PL probe and hand over all requested documents and information and this clears them of any wrongdoing. No punishment.

Scenario 2: City continue not to cooperate and the Premier League has insufficient evidence to do anything but sanction them for that. CAS levied a €10m fine for this in the UEFA case.

Scenario 3: City comply fully with the Premier League probe and hand over all requested documents and information and it helps the PL find them liable of wrongdoing and they are punished.

Scenario 4: City don't cooperate but the PL get evidence from other sources. They charge City with breaches of rules and a disciplinary process ends in exoneration or punishment.
So scenario 2 then. Premier League can wash their hands of it, and City can claim that the verdict said there wasn't any legit evidence that they cheated.

It's utterly brazen, as is their false indignance at the accusations.

This case may not be dead after all. city could still face punishment for their extensive list of rule breeches.

Edit: Half asleep posting. Just saw the previous link.

When we play them on 6th November we must be very vocal in calling them out as cheats and set an example that hopefully all other sets of supporters follow.

Nothing will happen because the Premier League brand can't be tarnished.

The way these pundits go on about city, they should be ashamed of themselves with how they do it.

Strip them of everything since 2012 and put them in the North West Counties. Their derby can be against Chadderton. Tw@ts.

Interesting how all of the ex-pros and pundits who were so opposed to the super league never call City out.

It could actually be a bit of a PR tap-in for the league. If they go strong in the “We refused to let this go and are delighted that our exhaustive efforts have finally delivered this conclusion. We will continue to do everything we can to uphold and enforce the integrity of the game” etc etc

High horse, holier than thou, all leagues must follow our lead, all your base are belong to us etc.

Screw city to the wall, have a big party about it and move on, sainted.
