There is such a thing as bank contract guarantees. (i post this purely fyi, and it is just the way I think)

The bank acts as risk management tool. If Inter (in this case) miss a payment, United trigger the mechanism and get their cash direct from the bank. It is then the bank's problem to get the cash from Inter.

These guarantees are so commonplace that to not have one is mismanagement imo.
