Should not be starting games for us, and is one of two positions where we desperately need an upgrade, the other being the midfield spot held by Perreira.

Hopefully we can nail top 4 this season and get a couple of worldies for both positions next summer.

he looked awful without the ball. Jessie can't press.
One or two good moments though and got stuck in when needed.

Still, for most senior player on the pitch in terms of age he didn't do enough

Thought he was decent.

Nothing spectacular but didn’t give the ball away much, couple of good runs with the ball and without.

What he martial rashers and pogs could offer upfront is really exciting. When they’re involved in that quick interchange stuff on the counter attack then lingard is a key part of that. But it’s the everything else bit which is missing and there’s a lot of everything else moments in every match.

He had a shite first half, completely anonymous, but he had a decent second half.

Still looks lost when we're out of possession imo, but as soon as we get possession his movement off the ball is great. If he can improve on his pressing game and effectively get in the faces and hassle the opposition then that he can be extremely effective.

I mentioned the new sock arrangement on the match thread, but of course the haters ignored it. I think his socks will be a big plus for us this season. His feet are certainly quicker with that set up.

Surprised people think he had an alright game tbh. He was anonymous for large parts of it. Hoping that as the season goes on Greenwood and Gomes will start to take his minutes

Thought he had a good game yesterday

The only one of our forwards who wasn't giving the ball away wastefully from minute one

Obviously he's not good enough but until Gomes gets his chance he's probably the best option for the number 10 role

Difficult to give it away when you rarely have it.

Was hardly ever involved
