That was the point though. The original basis for their existence flies in the face of the theory we are all born equal.

I get that they have had to adapt their defined role and position over the years to stay relevant. Much like most religions are frantically doing in an attempt to retain members. It's a fundamentally corrupt point of authority that provides absolutely nothing outside intangible solace for those that need it, while accruing and retaining an increasingly disproportionate level of resources and influence. In short, more @#%&!s that need to go.

Someone mentioned before that because of the policing requirements for the funeral on Monday, they will have to cancel the games. Which is completely understandable, and makes the fact that we cancelled this weekends games so everyone can pretend to be miserable all the more stupid.

Probably also to do with the fact the europa league games are sanctioned by uefa and premier league games by the FA.

I’m sure the royal family are patrons of the FA or some crap like that.

This, although we're not pretending to be miserable since they cancelled it.

Yup.

Can see most things being off next weekend as a period of mourning or some %@#$&!s.

If ever there was a good time for the IRA to get back in the game.

Few athletics events in NI next week, that would have used police for traffic control, are shifting to private firms where they can, or looking at cancelling, as the PSNI are sending loads of staff over to England to help with policing

RL semi finals are definitely going ahead next weekend, will be ridiculous if football is off again. The policing issue is a red herring as the met have basically said they'll cope if football is played

Bringing my daughter home to start Uni next weekend.

Also bringing my youngest for his first Leeds match.

Will be incandescent if it is cancelled (but will happily accept the Monday off).

That was harder than a preseason weekend or even the Covid ones. Probably because it was all so unjust

If they cancel next weekend there could be riots.

Could the funeral not be postponed till midweek? Dangle a few magic tree fresheners around the coffin and nobody will notice.

It’s highly likely they will. Loads of forces will have sent down to London for the funeral, so they’ll all be short handed. That’s why cancelling this weekends games was so £#%&!ing stupid.
