theres no £#%&!ing advantage...the game still needs to be won...job still needs to be done ffs.....further more, its probably more of an advantage to play second because you already know what your opponent has done and if they have dropped points then the pressure is off a little.....

yeah, if you win, it puts pressure on your rivals but they still need to win their games either way ....so United win, does that mean chelsea and arse will be a little bit pissed off when they kick off

Alternatively, if we slip up it gives them a huge boost

I remember that in the 2006/07 run-in, Jose whinged about how we were always getting to play first and how this was "unfair". So he obviously thought there was an advantage in it.

yet when we slipped to let them right back in it at home to Boro they choked at St James Park on the sunday anyway.

left Viduka umarked didnt he. We scored after 3 minutes as well ffs. Looked set to be yet another match we buried within 30 mins which was pretty standard issue at OT that year. If theyd beaten Newcastle our 3 pt buffer was gone, and we still had to go there.

I think it's a bit naive to say that the timings of the games have no effect.

If you play later on then it can clearly have an effect in terms of pressure on the game. Playing earlier isn't really much of an issue.

Less of an issue in this year's title race though with the 6 point gap. Chelsea and Arsenal need to win every game.
