Henderson continuing to perform for Sheffield United

Could Deano & Serge be good enough for us?...

Club could well cash in on Dave this summer.

Wouldn't have any problem with Sergio being number 1 if the worst comes to the worst
Obviously different pressure than being backup but he's never let us down

Does some things better than Dave

Dave's a Utd great but tbh I struggle to get too arsed about a goalkeeper

So you don’t mind going through the same shit we went through after schmeichel retired?

If (big if) he leaves, Romero has earned the right to the number 1 shirt for a season.

Is he really likely to leave though? Juve are unlikely to pay mega money and he doesn't seem the type to join PSG. He seems very settled here.

Madrid was the big threat but with Courtois they're sorted for years.

Still won the league title in 3 of the 4 years post Schmeichel despite Bosnich, Taibi, two Andy Goran's and the bald French dwarf

Made some awful choices back then until VDS

I think people overrate the importance of the goalkeeper position
All this he's worth 15 points a season bullshit
Just need a very good solid keeper which big Sergio is

Will be sorted in the summer once we've kicked out Sanchez and promised Dave he can be top earner

One of our best ever teams did £#%&! all in the European cup after 99. Making more money than we’d ever made which means we were finally able to compete with the biggest clubs in Europe on transfer fees and wages, no glazer debt, no dominant european club to overcome, some of our best ever players at their peak years. Should have been a golden period for us.

You can get away with just a decent keeper against dross in the league, but in the big games against the best you need more. Goalkeepers are one of the most important players in the team. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous. Whenever schmeichel was out of the united team 93-99 we went down a level, particularly as a defensive unit.

Bullshit
Glasgow Rangers were spending more on transfers at that time

The big Italian and Spanish clubs were still out spending us on transfers and wages
Never got close to breaking a world transfer record

Aside from the Madrid home match I can't think of the goal keeper being at fault for our disappointing exits in Europe at that time
It's a cup competition and sometimes you just have a bad night or the opposition are just better than you

Didn’t we barely spend anything in ‘99 and 2000?

Following up the European Cup win by nabbing Fortune, Silvestre etc

£#%&!ing Edwards.

Maybe Fergie didn't want to £#%&! too much with the treble team

When you have a side that would appear to have so few weaknesses on paper as that Utd side it's hard to make the decision to replace any of the first 11
I think personally it was the defence we should have spent big on

Left back, centre back and goalkeeper

Agreed. Should have got Thuram in ‘99. Think Fergie wanted Rivaldo too.

But I think for Edwards the £28m spree in ‘98 did him in.

28 million wasn't even that much at the time

Glasgow Rangers spent 36 million that season
