If it was as bleak as people are wanting to make out, we wouldn’t have spent the money we did over the summer, and that is a fact.

They can afford to, but they are at a tipping point on milking it; the more shares they sell, the less dividends go to them.

Which was why I said the original sums being mentioned were a nonsense.

It's very telling that the Athletic are reporting that they're hoping for a sale in the next few months. I was initially dreading a drawn-out process, but as others have said we could very well end up with an investment group who are just as bad as them.

please can you explain what it would look like if an investment group took over, what the funding models they would use to purchase the club in a higher interest world look like and what you think they’d stand to gain please

Pretty sure a forum big dog like Silv has better things to do than follow around some gimp named after a shit character from a hugely underwhelming tv show.

Besides, puppies are supposed to follow you around. So surely a #@&%!ed puppy wouldn’t? Did you think this through?

Someone would buy at £7b. There were multiple offers for Chelsea and as a brand they're not in the same stratosphere. I appreciate the 'London tax' element but still there is a huge gulf between the two when it comes to fan base and prestige.

At £7b it could easily be an investment group that buy us, not just an oil state.

Maybe they'd see it as a hedge against inflation. Maybe they can see that the club debt free is a licence to print money without a worry if it being a depreciating asset. Maybe they just want the prestige of owning one of the biggest, most recognisable brands in the world.

If the glazers are selling, it won't take long to find a buyer, even in a recession.

There are 100s of companies with billions. 100s of royal family Members who have nothing better to do than play around with the money mommy and daddy left them.

There are consortiums , you’re making it like there are only 10 people who can afford United and 7 of them have said no.

Man Utd would be a top prospect for the likes of apple and Amazon. The American companies “struggle” (relatively) in Asia , especially China . 7 billion is pocket change for them and it’s an easy way to advertise themselves to billions of people .

I’m not saying apple or Amazon will be after them, but as a brand Man Utd hold a lot of value.

Of course an investment group is a possibility but so is the chance of proper rich owners coming in. It’s a waiting game.

Will probably take around 2-4 months and hopefully by march/April we all know who the new owners are.

Would Amazon not face the same issues Sky did, what with their desire to get into the mucky World of TV rights?

Yeah, but it's United we're talking about here. The rules change to suit.

Interesting quotes from ETH here, must be quite far down the line to be saying stuff like this…

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/63978376.amp

Quote:
"There will be more investment possible which is good," said Ten Hag.
The Dutchman says when he was informed of the plan by chief executive Richard Arnold, he was reassured by what it meant.
"We spoke about the culture we want, we spoke about objectives, goals and the culture and he confirmed it won't change," he said.
"It will be even better because more money will become available for this project."

Nice (apart from the use of the word "project" )

He also had Van Perse training with the lads today too for some reason, good to see

Think RvP is doing his coaching badges so something to do with helping with that.
