Rooney is training but United told the press they only have 15 minutes and then they have to leave.

O'Shea and Rafael only started training yesterday, I doubt we'll see them.

Rio is an interesting one, not sure I'd be up for him stepping into the breach after 2 months out tbh.

I was thinking that after I posted it, it's the away game, £#%&! it, go for the jugular if you get 2 or 3 away goals and don't lose, you've cracked it.

don't fancy away at chelsea in the cl for rio's first match back, especially as vidic didn't look too clever on saturday.

vds
rafael - smalling - vidic - evra
carrick - anderson
toni - rooney - nani
pea

depending on how anderson is doing but would go with him ahead of scholes in the away leg. we'll probably see anderson instead of pea and rooney up front alone though.

It's nice actually have some options and a selection dilemma. I'd go with the original team posted too. No way should Rio start this. I'd be more tempted to go with Rafael at RB, but Fabio did ok enough at the weekend. Berbs, Hernandez and Giggs all great options from the bench. 1-1 draw, for me. 1-0 at ours.

Default Re: Team for Wednesday

I think how we line up is hugely dependent on how Chelsea line up.

Will they leave Drogba on the bench, go Torres up top, 4-3-3 ?

Or will they play both Drogba & Torres, & go 4-4-2 ?

We lined up with O'Shea at right back last time & his attacking intent & ability to retain the ball, offer an out, was shit. I can't imagine he'll be back in after a days training from a hamstring... likewise Rafael, & Fabio has looked pretty assured as he's gone on there - I'd love to see him keep his place but we all know about Fergie's fear of the big lads.

Valencia is back, Nani was rested imo for the West Ham game... our Player Of The Season & current best attacking weapon surely have to start together, which means Rooney up front on his own in a Euro away. But we went 4-4-2 & I thought were really very good against Chelsea in the first 45mins in the league before we ran out of steam & did our usual 'sit back' after taking the lead. Luiz, who was comfortably their best player, is not eligible for the game, so will they move Ivanovic in & play Bosingwa... I £#%&!ing hope so - because surely we should then play 4-4-2, 2 wingers up against their full backs - that would leave their creativity down to Essien, Lampard, Ramires... Malouda ? If they want to get their full backs forward then they'll be in danger of being caught on the break - so do you start with Hernandez, or do we keep the ball & play Berbs as Scholes having to chase around is a bad, bad look.... ?

Personally - if Chelsea line up 4-3-3 I'd go with

But if they line up 4-4-2, with Bosingwa at right back, Ramires on the right wing...

Which will probably only last an hour before Scholes is £#%&!ed, get Fletcher or Anderson on, depending who's fittest, & Cheech for Berbs.

Who's the £#%&!ing ref for this anyway ? If we get £#%&!ed over again there I think I'll puke.
