State of Burnley

Chelsea 'away' to Spurs next week. Every year since Fergie retired we've seen diabolical title defences and this could be another. Shit depth.

They almost always beat Spurs, mind you.

Anyone else watching Sky Sports interview with Conte? He looks rough as £#%&! for the first day of the season, looks more like an interview with a manager at the end of May when you've won £#%&! all and been in the relegation zone for 8 months. Not sure he'll be able to handle this season.

They're still banging on about Watford's equaliser.

Regardless of where he's standing you can't be offside unless the ball is played forward -which it wasn't- can you? Or did they change that £#%&!ing rule as well?

It's never been the rule. Thing is you don't usually receive the ball if you're ahead of it but it's passed backwards.

What you're thinking of is a case where someone who's clean through on the keeper passes to another attacker who is ahead of all but the keeper but because he's behind the ball he's not offside.

It was offside but a tricky call, hard for the linesman to know when the ball was played.
