Default What was Thatcher’s Greatest Achievement - Poll

Undoubtedly the UK’s greatest post war PM Thatcher steered the basket case that was the UK - “the sick man of europe” no less - to prosperity and success. Her reforms may have led to a modicum of term pain, but htis must be weighed against the long term gain. Unless I’ve read the mood of this forum very wrongly I’m sure you’ll agree the time has come when we should celebrate the leadership that led us to where we are now - the destination of choice for the those across the world who want to make a better life for themselves.

Which of the following you rate as her best accomplishment?

1) War - Successfully liberating the Sovereign UK territory of the Falklands from fascist occupation. No messing about. You want trouble? Well Maggie’ll give it to ya. Galtieri called the Grantham Raider’s bluffand got potted right in his Junta. UK 1 Argentina 0. She’d have brought Maradona down before he made the box in 86 as well.

2) Peace - Playing a key role in saving the world from Nuclear Armageddon by brokering the peace talks that brought an end to the cold war. Gorbachev is wideley rumoured to have nursed a semi-on at the merest glimpse of a shampoo and set, and that it was the promise of a glimpse of what lay under that smart blue suit and blouse that compelled him to sacrifice his nuclear deterrent.

3) Giving to the Poor - Enacting The Right to Buy legislation thus giving the poorest a stake in society by empowering the working classes in what must be the single biggest handout and redistribution of wealth by any government ever. Eat your heart out Corbz.

4) Free market reforms and deregulation - a wonderful freedom enhancing mover leading to greater consumer choice, leading to hugely improved services, at cheaper prices. More money in the pockets of the working man again thanks to Thatch.

5) Reform of the Unions - removing the boot of special interests from the throat of the nation and putting an end once and for all to the days of being held hostage to unreasonable demands of the self-serving collectives of militant saboteurs. Scargill would have rued the day he took her on if he hadnt have done very very well out of the miners Never having to work a day in his lefe ever again thanks to the pointless sacrifce of his members.

6) Iranian Embassy Siege - by refusing to cave into the demands of terrorists and sending in the SAS she simultaneously provided the best live News Footage of the 80s, the inspiration for Lewis Collins’ finest ever moment ie the sublime and exciting (but sadly overlooked by the oscar committee) feature film “Who Dares Wins”, and made a great impression on a young man named Vladimir Putin who until that day was known as something of an appeaser.

Im sure you’ll agree there is something for everyone there. Except Nofun the filthy and treacherous communist and terrorist sympathiser who would no doubt want a Brighton Bomb category. Well, he’s not getting one.

Join me in saluting the nation’s strongest and most succesful post war leader the grocers’s daughter - Margaret Hilda Thatcher. Mrs T. Her Madg-esty.

Disproved the notion that women in power would bring about world peace and prosperity for all.

Proved instead that women tend to be rather cunty.
