More like there was no other choice, Rooney is now the most senior player with the most appearances and medals, he's on the most money etc, if he had been overlooked for the role and then spat his dummy out "again" which would havebeen guaranteed, is that really a situation lvg would want to deal with at this important point in the big plan? definately not... The only way Rooney wouldn't have got it is if we had of signed hummels by now imo.

If he'd not got the arm band he'd of spat the dummy out 'Again'

And done what ?? Trannie request ? Gone on strike, asked for a pay rise ?

Probably all 3 if we're being honest eh?

End of the day on the wages he's on we are stuck with him so we can't afford to have him not giving his all.. And we know how much of a spoilt mard arse brat he is so over looking him for the armband at this moment in time would have resulted in only one response from him ,like it or not.. And if we are gonna win the league this year we need him at top level, so as much as I don't like it or him I will deal with it.. Sorry for mega edit am on the sauce.

Personally, I don't care who the captain. It's not as if Keano or Robbo are around anymore is it?!

However, given some of his behaviour in the past, I'm shocked he's got this.....Goes to show life isn't fair.

But as I said, I don't care. So long as results are good, all is well!

Keano was far more likable though

And Keano, on his worst day, was still a top notch player and captain.....
Rooney on his worst day....See Swansea December 2012.

If there was a decent candidate then I'd be arsed who wore the armband. Best of luck to our scouse mercenary/ future record goalscorer.

Keane...held the club to ransom over wage demands...got nicked before a cup final...occasional liability on the pitch

Cantona...attacked a fan...had to be persuaded to stay at the club...another liability due to his temper

Robson...piss can

All previous club captains and apparently untouchable sacred cows. The only reason Rooney gets bashed is because he's scouse...it's a form of racism tbh

What I would give to have Roy Keane in the side now. We wouldn't need Vidal.
