Football Manchester United v Newcastle United - EFL Cup - 8:15pm - 01/11/23 - Official Match Thread

Do or die time? Although we need our strongest team to give us a chance at silverware, I’d really like to see him mix it up with potential starters for the league. Is Mainoo good enough? Who knows until he gives him a game. Same with a few others.

I'm expecting the worst tbh.

1-3 Newcastle with a lot of boos and even a chorus of "You don't know what you're doing".

Time to rest some egos and players out of form.

Would like to see a front three of Garnachers-Rassy-Antony, with Amrabat-Hannibal-Mount behind.

defence will be a mess whoever is in it.

Looking forward to this.....

Defending champions under the lights, detest Newcastle these days so any form of win and send them home...

No pens please.....

Really bad position to be going into this game.

But could be a good time to switch things up with the lineup, get some of the mardy gits out of the team and get some younger lads in. If we lose then the pressure will be ramped up but some blame can be put on the weakened line up, and if we win then it gives ETH a little more power to drop 'bigger' players from the starting 11 going forward.

Losing with a strong starting 11 with Fulham coming up on Saturday would be catastrophic.

I can't find a sliver of optimism for this one but it's a must win IMO. Would like to see a strong team showing some guts and determination, but don't expect to. Not going.
Mainoo had a decent enough game last night but we lost.

Newcastle will be resting most of the first team apparently so no excuses.

Erik will go mostly same team again (play themselves into form). Expect mount in for The Scottish Player at 6.
Antony back in.

Starting line up will dictate if I bother or not.

Hannibal, Garnacho, Mount and rusty Tagine should start.

Two games a week is starting to affect Newcastle. They are beginning to pick up injuries and look tired. I still make them favourites tonight but I think they may fall off this season.

Mainoo played last night, got two assists and played the full 90 so if he doesn't have any reaction I reckon he'll be in the squad for the weekend.

Im inlined to agree with 99% of of that & the only change I would make to your starting line-up would be, Pellistri instead of, Anthony

Pelliistri is shit though - play him as many times as you like he not doing anything

Would have been a good game for Sancho - but he’s killed his United career by being a dick

Rashford can’t / won’t play on the right

Like it or lump it Anthony is the only viable option
