The spooky one going through my head at the mo' is Leeds (!) losing to then third-tier Cardiff in the FA Cup third round eight years ago....

They were TOP of the Premiership at the time

And the rest, as they say, is history.

Ah well, if this is indeed the start of the big dip, it was pretty good whilst it lasted, eh??

well i think we've been a pretty decent non arrogant bunch on our way up and whilst at the top so the journey back down won't be too painfull

Sunday's fiasco was almost 20 years to the day after THAT match and Mark Robins goal, too - another spooky factoid

tbf when busby retired in 1969, he did so without really rebuilding what was then an ageing team. when fergie goes there's a good chance he'll have established another generation of players before leaving someone else to take up the reins. i don't think he'd leave a squad that was close to burning out.

It's a pretty sad endictment though that we have fallen away so badly because we're missing one player, albeit an extremely good one. Imagine essentially the same team next season, he snaps his cruciate ligament in the first game of the season and is out for months, then what?

We lost owen as well which effectively left us with with 1 striker and a rookie.

It didn't help that when McGuinness wanted to rebuild the board wouldn't back him.
