...seeing as the standing army in India was under the control of the East India Company rather than the British government, and our empire came about as a means to exploit resources, including the existing inhabitants, of the countries that we colonised, and that our navy was formed in order to protect the ships (uh oh, maybe they have a point, maybe ships in general DO represent the repression of one population by another) that carried the results of that exploitation to and fro across the world.
