Socialism means very different things to different people.
We just had a GE here. As usual they're trying to form a coalition. Thee two biggest parties in Flanders (1st and 3rd biggest overall) are the NVA (Nationalist) and Vlaams Belang (Fascist). They won't even talk to the "Socialist" parties , considering them, tax payers's money thieves and general lazy, layabout scum. If however you ask NVA and VB about their policies on child support, state education, affordable health care, unemployment support, free (excellent) training for job seekers, equal opportunities, crackdown on tax avoidance... you'd think that they were way to the left of Jeremy Corbyn.
You can have a tax and spend mentality and still not be considered socialist.
