The police were having their arses handed to them by protesters with iron bars. One of the police shot into the air to drive the crowd back. Pretty much Tiananmen square tbf.



One thing I will say: I underestimated the ability of Carrie Lam to take an opportunity and turn it into a crisis.

Hk isnt communist China. In fact, a good part of the protest is people
Not wanting to become part of the PRC 30 years ahead of deadline.

And its not about democracy. What we are seeing is the result of huge frustrations with the government, the price of property, the tycoon monopolies, etc. The extradition bill was just what lit the touch paper for the more radical protesters.

You would never see this happen in China. Partly because of the PLA, but also because China has given many of its young people more of a future - certainly compared to the past and compared to those in HK.

And rubbers, not accepting for a minute that there is any similarity with 1989. that was run by student ideologues. In short, the student leaders were c***s. Chai Ling the biggest c*** of the lot. In HK right now, good luck uncovering any leaders. Most decisions are being made by voting on an app
