Default Chris Smalling to AS Roma?!?!

Chris Smalling to AS Roma from Man United, here we go! Total agreement for a simple loan (€3M to Man Utd) without buy option. The player has accepted. 🔴 #MUFC #Roma #transfers

Well done for doing it before Brexit.

Why?

Potentially moving pets could become a lot more of a headache - get his dogs over there now and he'll be fine.

I like Smalling and think he's an underrated defender.

I also like him as a man.

Sad to see him go.

Smalling is certainly in the traditional of rock solid Italian defenders. Can’t see him being exposed over there.

That’s the problem, they’re just loans aren’t they? So these @#%&!s will be back in summer when clubs find out how shit they really are.

Maguire and Smalling would've provided a more balanced partnership at the back IMO

Lindelof is soft
Jones is average
Tuanzebe will be nothing more than a fringe player
Rojo reckless and injury prone
Bailly see Rojo

Oh well. Looks like next summer we'll be looking to bring in a quality centre back at least.

Just another thing that shows how shit we’re run.

People will say he was offered a new contract under Mou, but that again shows how poorly we're run that we stopped backing him months and months ago yet still offered players bumper contracts on his say so...

Ah but it’s just so he keeps his value and we can get a decent fee for him... 3m £#%&!ing loan deal

£#%&!ing joke how we're run.

No option to buy ?

Interesting, perhaps this is to give him some playing time and a different experience before reintegration into the squad ?

Is the deal that they pay his wages and give us 3 million, or do they simply give us 3 million and we're still responsible for his wages ? What's he earning btw ?

I’d guess around 70-80k?

And knowing Woodward we’ll still be paying his wages

Will have more bodies to his name than Breivik when he’s done. Brutal.

So we pay his wages of around 4 million a year and get a 3 million loan fee ? That's bad business. Do we have a recall clause in the deal ? (in case injuries leave us with no options)
