So slow and sloppy with the ball. Nobody can build a move with him because he is so slow and doesn't anticipate it. Cannot believe he still gets called world class.

good to see he is still trying the old feign to shoot, then actually shoot straight into the defender standing a yard in front of him...average player at best

Fergie had his card marked

As his manager from the age of 18, is Fergie partly responsible for him not reaching his potential?

Also, after the atrocious signings when Ronaldo left, it forced the club to indulge Rooney when he put in his first transfer request.

It's so frustrating to see quick first time interplay break down when the ball reaches Rooney because his touch is so inconsistent. The status reflected by his wages are a joke.

RVP is on the same and it's exactly the same for him.

I wouldn't have either as our main striker, but given that we obviously won't be selling both (probably won't sell either ) , Rooney as the captain has to play up front. At least he can still put the ball in the net.

He was dreadful yesterday - about as bad as it gets. The whole team was shocking but you expect your captain to do something. Touch of a £#%&!ing rapist too.

I still think he has a lot to offer and on his day is devastating. But he needs to start showing more now

Last season, Van Persie score one less goal than Rooney. Also played 12 less games.

RVP was playing number 9, bit of a no brainer really.

If you move Rooney out of the way and build a fast side around RVP he scores 20+ league goals. LVG needs to sort it out one way or the other sooner rather than later.

Yaya Toure scored more than Rooney last year, out of midfield. Could say it is a bit of a no brainer.

when's the last time he got himself in a position to do a great clinical finish like a one on one or clear shooting chance in the box?

Our other strikers do it quite a bit...
