The last thing you want to do is give players an excuse to simply blame the manager. We saw that most starkly with Moyes when a bunch of ageing players let him take all the flack for their decline. With Pogba this positional issue is giving him the perfect opportunity to absolve himself of responsibility and become more self indulgent, which to me is how his performances are coming across.

You'd like to think he sets himself a certain standard to reach regardless of whether he agrees with the manager or not. Have my doubts.

Doesn't (will never?) have the discipline to be a top all-round centre midfielder

He's a luxury player. Still excellent but needs to play further forward in midfield to get the best out of him...

Where exactly? He isn't a 10 and he clearly isn't a CM, the only position he seems able to manage is to the left of Pirlo and Vidal against massively inferior opposition. Last season we were told he needed someone defensive next to him, now the can only play in a 3? Has he developed at all here?

And Marchisio

So basically needs a three-man midfield next to him in order to control and pass the ball.

And to run for him, when he feels that is just not for him. Far too many willing to make excuses and indulge him, why he still comes across as very immature in how he plays. Needs to grow up, can give a 20yo a peripheral role and hope that he develops into more than a sparkly decoration but at 25/26 you need to show that you are a serious player who can be trusted to take on responsibility and support your teammates.

Was it Rio or Scholes who had concern over his fitness? I am not seeing the engine that he had at Juve, maybe it was just flattered by playing in a lower tempo league but he does not seem to be able to sustain effort, makes a run then needs time to recover before he goes again.

Been a disappointment during his return to Utd, don't doubt his talent but given the fee and the years of hearing how allowing him to leave was the worst decision in the history of football, it has been very underwhelming.

#Pogback, world record signing, club buzzing, heights of giddiness, the future in safe hands....Bunks on the sidelines urging caution.

A brave, brave time to doom sage.

Looks like the whole thing could be a £#%&!ing disaster.

Just imagining him going to PSG and them trying to tell Neymar to track back so Pogba can score his 10 goals a season.

Fergie wouldn't have re-signed him.

I want the lad to succeed but he's not focused. You can see it. We've seen glimpses of quality but never brilliance. For a worldly you expect that regardless of his starting position.
