Controlled the game in the first 30. Then we let them in the last 15.

Think we are doing well, Fred losing out a few times with the ball. They must have been told to try to hold the ball more . A lot of calm down arm waving . But all in all not as shit as they usually are

Great player. Wish he'd step back a millisecond, look up, and assess the correct pass more consistently though. Always has space, rushes the final kick.

Best half since the Leicester game

Bruno keeping it simple
Matic running the show
Full backs look good going forward
Elanga and Mason playing well
Fred £#%&! ups in single digits

All good signs

Excellent performance.

It will take time but with someone who actually coaches you can actually expect certain improvements after a short while. Keep it up lads.

Telles has been really good. Offering for the ball and making runs past elanga. VDB for Fred would be nice but we don’t know if he is an improvement on him. I feel like we are lacking that passer in midfield. Bruno is having to come deep.

Martinez deserves the #@&%! up the try hard

Best half of football we’ve played since I can’t even remember tbh. Should have bagged another couple but really promising Signs, with Mel Gibson.

Still a bit shaky at points at the back but that defensive duo will be solid as the more they play together. Maguire needs to give his surname back to Ireland.

Over to Redknapp’s insight of the game.

ronaldo out and our attack looks pacey, direct and vigorous. apart from cavani, obvs. no one complaining, rolling his eyes or pointing.

What would you expect? Two or three up?

Villa have been hard to beat and were much fancied here, where we’ve been largely poor. I think it’s much better than most expected.

How we react if Villa press on again will be crucial. We know what we’re like for just folding under pressure.

So far so good, but need that second goal.
