You are still painting the players as the issue over the course of Mourinho's reign when absolute everything other than Mourinho's comments themselves point at the actual problem. Mourinho was the poison and was from the day he walked through the door and began things by signing Zlatan and undermining and beginning to £#%&! Martial off and getting shut of Memphis within 5 months. Is it any surprise that the board drew a line under his transfer plans as he continued to try to shift on Martial and £#%&! Rashford off to the point he was considering his future while chasing Perisic, Willian et al, and Memphis was merrily ripping up the French League He should never have even been in with a shout of the job following his behaviour at Madrid and especially at Chelsea second time. The biggest and mostly costly error was hiring him. |

#@&%!s like Paul Merson calling the players a disgrace. Bullshit. We were shit because we were set up to be shit. Every player was compromised and beaten down in public. If they had no heart, as you say, they wouldn't be rallying and coming back in games. It's lazy to say they'd stopped playing. They were playing at 70%. Which is the best you can expect when you're £#%&!ing miserable being managed by someone holding you back. Nobody slated him publicly. Nobody has since he's gone. All of them have avoided saying it's better under Ole. I think they've been as professional as you would expect them to be. There wasn't a doubt in my mind that they were not a group of lads capable of much more than they were showing under Jose. If it's one or two not pulling their weight, you question them. If it's literally every single one of them, you question their manager. |

Constant sniping in the media through players fave journos, leaks galore. It got pretty toxic there too even though LvG never displayed much displeasure in public. |

The reason these arguments about Mourinho and van Gaal go on and on is because people are not consistent. Both underachieved; both lost the dressing room and the support; both presided over largely shit performances; both were horrible in the market, and both were rightly fired. Whether one gets excused and the other condemned on here however seems to depend wholely on what your position was early doors. There’s no crime in being wrong, but constantly defending the indefensible is pretty ludicrous tbh. Quote:
