Don’t get me wrong I’d love to be the king of the reverse curse on this one but it’s been seven years of the same. Although while I’d love him to do so, part of me would feel cheated if he did turn it round.

No excuses apart from your most expensive and iconic player wants to play CL but nobody else wants him / can afford him?

ETH will either get De Jong or an alternative. If the season goes well (top four, maybe a domestic cup), then the budget will be there to carry a PL and CL challenge next year. We also have about 8 players out of contract next summer so he'll no doubt be weighing up who to keep.
